Summer is here and the birds are singing, the sun is shining and in between hours of cycling we all crave a delicious meal. What better American classic to reward yourself with than a cheeseburger? Our Amgen Tour of California team did just that. We went on a lunch tour near or around the downtown Los Angeles area, close to our headquarters, in search of our favorite local cheeseburgers. The reviews and results of our burgerific hunt are below! What are your favorite spots to grab a cheeseburger? We want to hear from YOU! Let us know on our @amgentoc social media platforms on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Cassells

1. Cassell’s Hamburgers

3600 W. 6th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90020

Cassell’s Hamburgers is an all-American joint located in Koreatown, Los Angeles and is home to some of the juiciest and freshest burger patties in all of LA. Our team absolutely LOVED Cassell’s because we could taste the amount of love and technique they put into making a great burger; a combination of the juicy meat patty (ground fresh daily) with the fresh veggies, homemade sauces, all sandwiched between a delectable Portuguese bun makes this traditional burger one-of-a-kind and our top pick for the day. (Not to mention the malts, pies, and fries we also consumed which were also AMAZING!) If you’re ever in Los Angeles, do yourself a favor and make a stop at Cassell’s!

MontysGoodBurger

2. Monty’s Good Burger (Vegan)

516 S. Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90020

The name truly speaks for itself! Eating at Monty’s Good Burger was an entire experience for our Amgen Tour of California Team. Beyond the vibrant colors and loud, energizing music that filled the small restaurant, our team was excited about this unique establishment that serves burgers that are 100% plant-based! As carnivores, we were all so happy to enjoy the Impossibleä meat just as much as a regular burger. All the ingredients were locally sourced, and all sauces were house-made. Environmentally friendly and delicious – what more could you ask for?

Burgers-Never-Say-Die

3. Burgers Never Say Die

2388 Glendale Blvd. Unit A, Los Angeles, CA 90039

As one of our team members claimed to frequent Burgers Never Say Die, we just had to give it a try! This burger may not be love at first sight, but it is most definitely love at first bite. This small burger joint in the hip Silverlake neighborhood is a local favorite and we can see why! The unique thin patty is crispy around the edges while the pickles, onions, mustard and ketchup all sing a harmonious song of flavors when you take a bite. All this is held by a soft and squishy bun. If McDonald’s had a tastier, elevated older cousin, the burger at Burgers Never Say Die would be it.

In-N-Out

4. In-N-Out

310 N. Harvey Dr., Glendale, CA 91206

Ahh what can we say besides “This is a California classic.” We just had to make a stop at this renowned California establishment: In-N-Out. Their simplistic menu consists of burgers, fries, milkshakes and a small list of “secret menu” items. In-N-Out is the perfect on-the-go road trip meal as you travel California. Their cheese burgers are made with thin beef patties, fresh veggies and a thin layer of the In-N-Out special sauce nestled in between toasted buns. If you’re from out-of-state or have never had In-N-Out, definitely make a stop for a memorable California dining experience!
